After creating your Theya account, you can continue to set up your vault(s). Here is the process for adding a Foundation Passport to your multisig vault.

For new devices (if you have have not generated a private key and seedphrase backup), follow the Foundation Setup Guide to set up your device before pairing with a Theya vault.

Note: With all singlesig or multisig wallet setups, it's at the user(s) discretion how to secure and store their physical hardware device(s) and recovery seed phrases.

Pairing A Foundation Passport: First Steps

  • Select 'Create New Vault' and select vault type:

    • Three Keys (2-of-3 multisig vault)

  • Select ‘New Hardware Device.’ Then select ‘Foundation’ from the manufacturer options and choose the Passport device.

  • Select 'Send Pairing Instructions' and instructions will be sent to the email associated with your Theya account.

  • Open this email on a desktop computer and ensure you have your hardware device (with pin) ready for pairing.

    • For air-gapped pairing, you will need your microSD card and card reader.

  • Click the ‘Add Hardware Wallet’ link provided in the email, and a new browser tab will open a Theya web application.

Pairing A Foundation Passport: Web Application

Follow the guided steps on the web application to pair your Foundation. This will guide you through the step-by-step process of exporting public keys and configuring your device.

Prepare Your Foundation & Export XPUB

  • Activate your device by entering your pin insert microSD card.

  • Add Theya extension under Settings > Extensions > Theya

  • Open Theya extension by going to the right circle in the bottom navigation.

  • Export XPUB (.json file)

    • Navigate to Connect to Theya > microSD

You've successfully exported your Foundation's XPUB to the microSD card.

Transfer XPUB To Computer & Upload To Theya

  • Remove the microSD card from your Foundation and insert into your computer's card reader.

  • On your computer, navigate to the microSD card and location the .json file.

  • Import to the Theya web application (drag and drop or click to upload).

  • Confirm details and add your Foundation Passport to your vault.

You've successfully paired your Foundation Passport with your vault.

Register Device

With your Foundation paired, the final step is to register your device.

Download Configuration File

  • Insert your SD card into your computer.

  • Download the wallet configuration file.

  • Save the file directly to an SD card.

Upload to Your Passport

  • Insert the microSD card into your Passport device.

  • On the device, navigate to Settings > Bitcoin > Multisig > Import from microSD

    • Choose the configuration file

  • Check the box to confirm you have successfully imported the configuration file and complete the registration process.

Your Foundation Passport is now successfully paired with Theya. If this is the second key in a multisig vault, you can now explore your new created vault and receive funds! If this is the first key in a multisig vault, continue adding your second key.
