After creating your Theya account, you can continue to set up your vault(s). Here is the process for adding a Trezor hardware device(s) to your multisig or singlesig vault.

For new devices (if you have have not generated a private key and seedphrase backup), follow the Trezor User Guide to set up your devices(s) before pairing with a Theya vault.

Note: With all single-sig or multisig wallet setups, it's at the user(s) discretion how to secure and store their physical hardware device(s) and recovery seed phrases.

Pairing A Trezor: First Steps

  • Select 'Create New Vault' and select vault type

    • Single Key (singlesig vault)

    • Three Keys (2-of-3 multisig vault)

With a multisig vault, you will generate you Recovery Key with Theya prior to paring your device. Otherwise, the general process of pairing a Trezor is the same regardless of vault type.

  • Select ‘New Hardware Device.’ Then select ‘Trezor’ from the manufacturer options and choose the specific device you are pairing.

    • Trezor Model One

    • Trezor Model T

    • Trezor Safe 3

  • Select "Send Pairing Instructions" and instructions will be sent to the email associated with your Theya account.

  • Open this email on a desktop computer and ensure you have your hardware device (with pin) ready for pairing.

    • You will need the USB cable(s) compatible with your Trezor device.

  • Click the ‘Add Hardware Wallet’ link provided in the email, and a new browser tab will open a Theya web application.

    • Follow instructions on the web application to prepare your device.

Theya + Trezor Web Application

  • Connect your Trezor to your computer via USB.

  • Theya will connect and guide you through Trezor's web application.

    • Ensure you have the latest version of Trezor Bridge installed on your computer.

  • You will be asked to grant permissions for the Trezor web application to read and export public keys from the device.

  • When prompted, enter your pin to activate your device.

If the Trezor web application recognizes the device but shows it as "inactive," it may be due to being connected to Trezor Suite (or another desktop wallet). Close Trezor Suite and activate the device by entering your pin.

  • Select ‘Standard’ or ‘Hidden Wallet’ (requiring a passphrase) depending on how to initially set up the device.

  • You can now "Add Trezor to Vault"

Your Trezor is now successfully paired with Theya. If creating a singlesig vault, or if this is the second key in a multisig setup, you can now explore your newly created vault and receive funds! If this is the first key in a multisig vault, continue adding your second key.
