Theya for Advisors makes it simple for financial advisors, RIAs, and wealth managers to help clients securely self-custody bitcoin using collaborative multisig. The onboarding process ensures clients retain full control of their assets while benefiting from advisor support.

1. Log in to the Theya Advisor Dashboard

  • Navigate to the Theya Advisor Dashboard and sign in with your advisor account.

  • Ensure your advisor key is set up and ready to use in client vaults.

2. Invite your clients

  • Go to the Customers tab in the dashboard.

  • Click +Invite Customers in the top right corner.

  • Enter your client’s email address. If onboarding multiple clients, separate emails with a comma.

  • Confirm the invitation. Clients will receive an email with setup instructions.

3. Guide your client through setup

Once invited, clients will:

  • Click the email link to create their Theya account.

  • Follow the in-app steps to set up their personal key.

  • Complete their 2-of-3 multisig vault, where:

    • Client holds one key.

    • Advisor holds the second key.

    • Theya holds the third key (for optional recovery support).

Advisors can assist clients in understanding how their vault works and ensuring their key setup is secure.

4. Help your client fund their vault

Once the vault is created, clients can deposit bitcoin:

  • Navigate to their vault and select Receive.

  • Copy the receiving address or scan the QR code.

  • Send bitcoin from an exchange, another wallet, or an external source.

5. Perform a health check

After setup and funding, guide your client in verifying their key:

  • Go to Key Management in the Theya app.

  • Select their key and run a health check to confirm it is operational.

6. Explain how you can assist them

Now that your client is onboarded, walk them through:

Best practices for successful onboarding

  • Educate clients on security – Ensure they understand multisig and the importance of their key.

  • Encourage regular health checks – Clients should periodically verify their key is functional.

  • Provide ongoing support – Offer guidance on security best practices, inheritance planning, and transaction workflows.
