As an advisor using Theya for Advisors, generating your advisor key is the first step to securely assisting clients with bitcoin self-custody. Your advisor key allows you to co-sign transactions, provide recovery support, and enhance security—without taking full control of client funds.

1. Log in to the Theya Advisor Dashboard

  • Navigate to the Theya Advisor Dashboard and sign in with your credentials.

  • If you haven’t created an account, follow the setup instructions in your onboarding email.

2. Access the advisor key setup

  • In the dashboard, click on the Advisor Key tab in the side menu.

  • Choose your hardware device model from the available options.

  • Click Add Advisor Keys to begin setup.

3. Add your advisor key to the vault

The setup process depends on your hardware wallet type. Follow the specific tutorial for your device:

4. Confirm key setup

  • Perform a health check in the dashboard to ensure your key is active.

  • Verify that your key is properly linked to your Theya account and ready for use in client vaults.

5. Begin onboarding clients

With your advisor key set up, you can:

  • Invite clients to Theya for Advisors and help them create collaborative vaults.

  • Co-sign transactions when requested by clients.

  • Assist in recovery if a client loses access to their key.

Best practices for securing your advisor key

  • Use a hardware wallet for maximum security.

  • Never share your key with anyone.

  • Regularly perform health checks to ensure functionality.

By securing your advisor key properly, you can confidently assist clients while maintaining the integrity of Theya’s secure, non-custodial multisig model.
