Theya is a modular bitcoin self-custody solution. In addition to collaborative multisig vaults, users can create and manage singlesig vaults. A singlesig vault is secured by one private key (backed by a recovery seed phrase) and requires only one signature to send a transaction.

Singlesig vaults are convenient for on-chain payments and movements of funds. They are also ideal for consolidating bitcoin in self-custody before moving to a multisig vault. This approach offers the robust security of self-custody while maintaining convenience.

There are endless ways to utilize the modular nature of Theya. Here are two general scenarios where a singlesig vault can compliment a multisig vault for individual self-custody.

  • A user wants to withdraw bitcoin from an exchange into self-custody, but it's not a large enough amount to justify moving to a multisig vault.

  • A user wants to the benefits of cold storage, but plans on moving these funds in the near future; preferring the ease, and lower transaction cost, of singlesig.
