Keyholders in Theya are responsible for holding one of the three keys that secure your Business Vault. Whether you're rotating team members, upgrading devices, or updating security policy, Theya makes it simple to replace keyholders while maintaining full operational control.
Why keyholder management matters
Allows you to rotate access during employee changes or device turnover
Helps prevent bottlenecks and shared device risks
Ensures your treasury remains secure and compliant with your internal policies
How to change a keyholder
Log in to your Theya Business account.
Go to the Vaults tab and select the vault you want to update.
Locate the key you'd like to reassign and click Manage.
Click Change Device.
Choose the new hardware device, mobile key, or team member to assign.
Follow the guided flow to complete the key replacement.
Perform a health check to confirm the new key is fully active.
This process updates the key itself and effectively replaces the previous keyholder with a new one. Vault access remains uninterrupted, as long as 2-of-3 keys remain available throughout the update.
Best practices
Regularly audit keyholders and device status
Avoid assigning multiple keys to the same individual or hardware
Update your key setup after staffing changes or internal policy reviews
